Winter has come

Winter time has come to the 'Peg! We have had lots of snow and several snow globe-esque days (in the words of Courtney). This weekend Shoes and I will spend some time getting our place ready for the holidays! We are very excited!

Dreaming About: A much needed break from work. Ha.

Reading: I finished re-reading "I'll Seize the Day Tomorrow" by Jonathan Goldstein. I needed something to make me laugh.

Loving: Coaching ultimate frisbee. Two more weeks!

Watching: Arrow. I was hesitant to watch it but I ended up really enjoying it.

Anticipating: A lot! **

Listening To: A mix... and trying not to listen to Christmas music yet (I am ridiculous)

Planning On: Doing some marking!

Working On: Budgeting for our trip

Wishing: I had done more work over the summer... oh...

Reflecting On: The past month of school

Enjoying: The beautiful fall colours!

Pondering: On how to get a My MagicBand for our trip...

** A lot of things are coming up! Courtney's wedding next week (super pumped!), going to see Mark Forward to a bit of comedy, and last but not least... Matt's and my wedding anniversary! We have some fun stuff planned for October. It's going to be loads of fun!

I haven't updated anything yet... because I really have had very little to update. I have been working, coaching, running, and doing lots of activities for the school. These weekends go by so fast, I end up spending most of them sleeping (however, if I spent most of them working and spent most of my weekdays sleeping, we wouldn't be having this problem... haha).

PS - those are my new glasses in the photo!

Beautiful highball tumblers from @thelostweb and Kathryn!

I needed to post these. My brother and his girlfriend gave Shoes and me these lovely Kate Spade highball tumblers. It was really crazy because I had seen them and was considering purchasing them, but decided that it's probably inappropriate to purchase them for oneself. And then ta-da, I receive this package. It was like she (because let's face it, it was not my brother's idea) had read my mind.

So gorgeous. I beautiful addition to our bar!

The leaves are changing and it's getting dark sooner... Time for #PSL10 Back at it.

So it's back to school time and I've been hard at work! It's been a little tough, what with me being lazy all summer and forgetting to prepare. But hey, if I am anything, I am quick on my feet. Also, I guess I have been around for a while so it's not like everything is brand-spanking new. I don't have as much work everything which I guess is great. Anyways, here is some iPhoneography capturing the beginning of fall!

PS - getting new glasses soon!!

4. I had many cooking adventures, including these delicious snacks (even though they did not include a lot of cooking, lol).
5. (Some) Running (not as much as I should have done...)
6. Went to Waterloo for a conference and a fellow teacher kindly took me on a tour of Toronto!

In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.

So, Man of Steel was fabulous. Like, "can't believe it's this fabulous" fabulous. The above was one of my favourite parts. If you haven't seen it yet, you probably should. Right now.

To boldly go where no #pusheencat has gone before

I was originally going to write about my experience watching Man of Steel for the second time. I was even more blown away than I already was. Like... need a tshirt with the family crest of the House of El blown away. And I was never a Superman fan. Unfortunately, I can't do that because the image I wanted to use is currently unavailable (that is, on my phone and my phone is dead).

So instead, I've posted this hilarious picture of a Pusheen cat. Because Pusheen cat is delightfully hilarious.

It's apparently supposed to rain today...

Today was a great day.

I woke up thinking it was going to be rainy and awful all day. I peeked outside... and it was gorgeous! Sunny! And I immediately felt 1000% better (that's right - 1000%. And yes, I'm a math teacher).

I had a great day hanging out with Kate, who I haven't seen in a long time. We had Starbucks and guacamole, gelato, and a wonderful time doing some impromptu shopping. After I came home, cooked, watched LOADS of Big Bang Theory when I should have been working. And then my husband made me laugh so hard I literally was rolling on the floor, laughing and dying.

Overall: terrific day.

We have a lot of chilli. Like... a lot. We made a giant pot on Sunday so that we could have leftovers.

I was kind of sick of eating it the normal way so I decided to make myself nachos. Because that's the adult thing to do.

I had to share this here. My brother and his girlfriend gave me this for my birthday. I love it so much. It's a tshirt from season 1 of My Drunk Kitchen.

Now all I need is a "Frederick!" shirt!

... how was yours? It was an Instagram-type of weekend!

From Top, L-R
(1.) Shoes and I went to a community church Christmas dinner with some people from his work. It was very nice and "hearty", which is really the only way I can describe it. (2.) I found this giant box of Keurig holiday coffees and it was glorious. Shoes almost wept with joy. (3.) Starbucks with Kate Sunday morning is probably one of my favourite things ever. (4.) Second to that is fun tea. This adorable bauble was given to us from Courtney@The Fig Tree. So adorable.

Also from Courtney - we got our amazing wedding photos. And that's what I'm going to do over the holiday.

It was Shoes' birthday last week and yesterday (Saturday), a bunch of us went out to celebrate. We went to Famous Dave's (we only waited 50 minutes!) and had a blast eating ribs, drinking beers (or root beer floats!) and then afterwards watching Boondock Saints and drinking more beers.

Shoes looked like he had a great time, so that makes me happy. He deserves to have a day just for him

A giant root beer float that Matthew Urban had. That goblet could kill people.
Brothers in agony
My cousins had the very hot barbeque sauce on their burgers. They had a rough time.

Happy Birthday, Shoes!

Countdown by edgeandvertex
Countdown, a photo by edgeandvertex on Flickr.
I play ultimate frisbee with a very good friend, Guida. She has two little girls who are my ringbearers. They always seem to have some sort of countdown going on: how many days until we ride an airplane, how many days until you go to tennis camp, how many days until so-and-so's 6th birthday. I noticed the countdown this week, which is the countdown to my shower. Kyla, one of the little girls, is coming and apparently she is so very excited. It just made me giggle to see the board.

Long weekend lunch

VJs

Shoes and I went on a burger adventure yesterday. I have just been hankering a hamburger. A nice, juicy burger with chili and mayo... We tried to go to Red Top but apparently they close at 2 on Sundays. We then headed over to VJs which is literally a hole in the wall. You know that it's going to be a good burger when it comes in foil and you can't fully take it out otherwise it will fall apart! It was a lot of fun.

I enjoy these days where I get to go out on dates with Shoes. It's fun and it truly is what I imagined my grown up life would be like.

Alyssa & Jonny by edgeandvertex
Alyssa & Jonny, a photo by edgeandvertex on Flickr.
Shoes and I got to go to his cousin Alyssa's wedding. It was a truly beautiful evening and I was so honoured to share in it with them. I was going to bring my camera but I forgot it in the rush to get out the door (Shoes takes FOREVER to get ready... or rather, he leaves everything until the last minute!).

All in all, the couple looked beautiful, the venue and decor was magical, and everyone looked truly happy. What a great evening!

My dad, brother, and I went for lunch at this awesome poutine place. I love summer Thursday lunch days with my dad and bro!

My brother graduated from the faculty of engineering today. He won the gold medal too for his program (electrical engineering). I could not be more proud of him.

Shoes and I have been trying to eat healthy. Truly, we have been. However, with the hamburgers on the cover of Food Network Magazine, what are two people to do? So, he made a feast. We made Sriracha Mayo topping with green onion, onions, mushrooms... the works! And of course, Famous Dave's pickles. Yum.

The only thing is that we had to cook it on the stove and not on the grill, like it's supposed to. That made me sad. We would love a barbeque so that we can cook fun things like grilled veggies, burgers, hot dogs, etc. It was so much work on the stove top with so much cleaning. Ah well. Still delicious.

Shoes and I were supposed to clean yesterday... but instead, we decided to have an amazing day out, enjoying the beautiful weather. We went to Skinner's in Lockport and enjoyed foot long hot dogs, burgers, and curly fries.

I loved the drive out. To be honest, I love drives on beautiful days. Put on some awesome music and I am happy as a clam.
